Fr. George Lamberis was born in Downers Grove, IL, along with his sister, Agape, and his brother, Nick. His mother and father, Aspasia and Gus, gave birth to triplets! Father is the middle child of the three.
His family attended the Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church in Westchester, IL. It was there that he developed his love for faith and the church. In his elementary years, he attended Greek School, Sunday School and a theatre group at Holy Apostles. In high school, he began serving in the altar and was exposed to Byzantine chant with the late Mr. Nick Karavites. It was during these years that he also faithfully attended the Metropolis Fanari Camp program as a camper and also offered his time as a counselor for many years.
He attended Downers Grove South High School followed by Northern Illinois University where he graduated with a B.S. in Mathematics with an emphasis in Education in 2004. He then enrolled at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in 2005 and earned his Master of Divinity in 2009.
In the summers of 2006 and 2007, Fr. George was a counselor for the Ionian Village Summer Camp. In the summer of 2009, Fr. George assisted at the Metropolis of Boston Summer Camp. In the summer of 2010 and 2011, Father George spent time working with His Eminence Metropolitan Ambrosios of Korea at the Orthodox Summer Camp in Korea. When Fr. George met Presvytera, she also came to Korea in 2011 to help with the camp program.
On February 2, 2010, Fr. George began working as the Pastoral Assistant/Youth Director and chanter of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Demetrios in Elmhurst, IL and was ordained four years later to the date to the Holy Diaconate by His Eminence Metropolitan Iakovos of blessed memory.
Fr. George and Presvytera Diana were married at St. Demetrios Church in Elmhurst on March 3, 2013. On February 17, 2014, Fr. George was assigned to the Holy Taxiarhai and Saint Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church in Niles, IL. He was ordained on March 23, 2014 to the holy priesthood and served as the associate priest for seven and a half years. Father George assisted Fr. Dean Botsis with parish responsibilities but specifically worked with youth and young adults of the community. Throughout his time, Father was able to cultivate and nurture strong relationships with youth and all members of the parish. He was actively involved with Family Night (K – 5th grade ministry), Little Angels (Toddler Ministry), Jr. GOYA (6th – 8th grade), Sr. GOYA (high-school) ministry, Vacation Church School, the Telos Young Adult Ministry, and the Outreach and In-reach Committees.
Presvytera Diana was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She grew up at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in St. Paul. Growing up, Presvytera chanted weekday services and sang in the choir. She was also involved in the youth ministries of the church. After High School, she taught Sunday School, offered her time as a GOYA advisor, and coordinated the Young Adult ministry of the parish. She also was a camp counselor for many years at St. Mary’s Greek Orthodox Church Camp in Minnesota. She received a B.S. in Psychology at the University of Minnesota and obtained her Masters of Education in School Guidance and Counseling at the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
She moved to Chicago in 2002 and became the co-coordinator for the YAL (Young Adult League) ministry for the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago.
Presvytera worked as a guidance counselor at Bloom High School in Chicago Heights, IL for eleven years. She currently works part-time as an administrative assistant at In2great Pediatric Therapy in Buffalo Grove, IL.
Fr. George lives in Addison with Presvytera Diana and their two children — Constantine, who is seven years old and Emmanuel, who is five years old They both currently attend Guardian Angel Orthodox Day School in Des Plaines. Constantine loves science, swimming, board games, and the outdoors. Emmanuel loves art, Legos, swimming and bike riding.
